FEATURETTE

Story

FEATURETTE is a late night snack of gritty earporn with hooks you can sink your teeth into. Think Flume meets NIN with a little Billie sprinkled in there. Female fronted by Lexie Jay (Vox) and backed by bandmates Marc Koecher (Keys/Synth/Guitar) and Jon Fedorsen (Drums/Synths), the Toronto-based project are genre-bending and ready to carve out their own niche in the market with their dark, bouncy, and addictive beats.

“Cocaine” is their comeback standalone single and their first new release since their 2021 single “The Blame (Exposed Version)” and 2020 record Dream Riot. The trio have been captivating audiences for years while sharing the stage with acts like Alessia Cara, Mother Mother, Scott Helman, and Walk Off The Earth. Their debut LP Crave (2016), launched the band into overdrive resulting in numerous radio singles, a top 10 JUNO Masterclass finalist selection, and securing an Emerging Artist of the Year win at COCA 2017. Accolades continue to usher in for the band with two Canadian Independent Music Video Award wins including Best Overall Music Video, and Best In Pop Music Video for the “The Blame.” 2022 saw the band complete their third as of now unannounced and unreleased record, add producer/sound designer/guitarist Marc Koecher as a member, and wowed international industry members at Reeperbahn Festival. Having secured Midnight Agency as their booking agent, follow-up singles are expected throughout 2023 from the group in the lead up to the new album cycle.

“Cocaine” is about likening love addiction to a drug, which is extremely palpable in the adrenaline-filled jackrabbit of a track. The fast-paced, relentless beat makes your heart rush, when it’s done you’ll need to catch your breath, or better, take a slow drag from a cigarette.
