Story

Hailing from Salt Spring Island on Canada’s west coast, Nicky MacKenzie is an emerging force in modern pop. Known for her ability to unearth deep emotions through raw, poignant lyrics and a commanding vocal presence, Nicky draws comparisons to icons like Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, and Joss Stone. Her soulful voice is woven into lush, dynamic soundscapes that captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.

A winner of the prestigious Canadian Songwriting Challenge and a standout contestant on CTV’s The Launch, Nicky has already carved out a place for herself within Canada’s music scene. Now collaborating with Juno-nominated producer Gus van Go on her debut full-length album, she is poised to take her artistry to the next level—delivering polished, innovative tracks that showcase her signature sound.

Ahead of her debut album, Nicky will release a series of singles, beginning with “I Should Go”, a sultry, confessional track about temptation, self-awareness, and the dark pull of bad habits. Her growing momentum is further fueled by dynamic live performances at major Canadian festivals such as Phillips Backyard and Rifflandia, where she continues to win over new audiences.

With more than 2 million streams across all platforms—including 1.3 million on Spotify and 930,000 on YouTube—Nicky MacKenzie is quickly establishing herself as one of Canada’s most exciting new voices in pop.
