My name is Cubanbrown, I am a singer, rapper, songwriter and producer creating music in the Desi Hip Hop genre. Born and based in Toronto, Canada, my brand of Desi Hip Hop has a more diverse sound including elements from Reggaeton / Latin Urbano. I am a recording and performing artist. Currently I am releasing songs and building a strategy to turn my music into a business. I have collaborated with over 10 south asian artists based in the Greater Toronto Area including some from significant Canadian south asian communities in Brampton and Mississauga. The backgrounds of the artists I have collaborated with are also a part of my sonic tapestry with artists coming from Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Karachi and Haryana. This has led to a linguistic blend in my music of English, Urdu, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Hindi. My release “Kaash” (Feb 2025) featuring Brij Benwial became my first song to make it on a Spotify editorial playlist Rap 91 Haryanvi. One of the ways I am starting to connect with a greater audience is through increased pursuit of live performances. Last year I was able to showcase some of my music by performing at the largest South Asian music festivals in Canada, DESIFEST Yonge Dundas square alongside Desi Hip Hop stars Roach Killa and Blitzkrieg. Additionally in October 2024, I threw my own show at Tapestry Kensington Market in Toronto which resulted in over 50 attendees.
