Malia Rogers

Story

Nova Scotia raised, Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Malia Rogers has a clear musical mission: be the first person in the room to drop her shield, and in doing so, move others to lower their own. Her introspective, conversational folk offerings carefully balance melancholy and hope, touching audiences with precise lyricism, warmed-honey vocals, and thoughtful, spacious instrumentation.

Malia’s EP Chameleon, produced by Neil Whitford and released May 30 2025, draws on folk, bluegrass, and celtic influences to explore enduring themes of identity, relationships, grief, growth, and the stories we tell ourselves – all the while imploring listeners toward kindness, forgiveness, and self-compassion.

Alongside her solo practice, Malia’s skills are in high demand as a multi-instrumentalist & vocalist in other award-winning music projects (Jessica Pearson & The East Wind, Ian Sherwood) as well as onstage for Theatre Gargantua, Theatre of the Beat, and Neptune Theatre as an actor-musician.

Through song and story, Malia invites you into the corners of her heart the way she would invite you into her family home on the East Coast: put down the heavy bags, stay as long as you need, and take something with you when you go.
